Elton John has had one of the most successful careers in rock and roll history of all time. He has sold millions and millions of records worldwide. In 1998 he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II and became Sir Elton Hercules John. He started playing the piano at a very young age and had an aptitude for music. Elton John was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight in Middlesex, England March 25, 1947 to Stanley and Sheila Dwight. His parents were divorced while he was still a teen.

Some of Elton John's best known hits are: "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Bennie and the Jets, Candle in the Wind, and Rocket Man." Elton John wore such outrageous costumes and spectacles on stage, that he became a superstar, and he was so flamboyant that he was sort of like Liberace. Elton John was married to a German woman, which lasted about four years, and then they were divorced. Elton John later joined his long time companion, David Furnish in a civil partnership on December 21, 2005, soon after it was legal for two people of the same sex to form such a partnership in England.

Elton was my favorite singer when I was a teenager. He's still a favorite. To consider that he's been around for over forty years now and is still making good albums, and overall his good music has far outweighed his bad, is amazing.

Thanks for the hub.

He has been around for a long time. I really like his album: Made in England. He's still pretty good. Your welcome. Thanks, too.
